With the San Antonio Spurs season ended we can only predict what is going to happen to the legendary team over the off season. The Spurs first season without the cornerstone Tim Duncan brought on an entirely different team. Throughout the season we saw the amazing development of Kawhi Leonard into Superstardom and a supporting cast that gave the Spurs the 2nd best record in the regular season.
With the unfortunately injuries of two of their stars they ended their playoff run in disarray. The question is always, What’s next?
Patty Mills – Mills contract is up in the off season and you can be certain that there will be some teams that have seen how much he has stepped up this season. Hopefully, we can hang on to him, as he could be a great asset to the franchise future with Tony Parker likely retiring.
Jonathon Simmons- Simmons has his contract option available and if the NBA hasn’t seen the potential of Simmons, they can review how he performed in the series after Leonard was injured.
Pau Gasol,Dwayne Dedmon,David Lee all have player options for the next season.
With all things they must come to an end , while there have been no confirmation, many believe that Manu and Parker will be retiring as Duncan did last year, ending the era of the big three that brought championships to San Antonio and created a dynasty.
With the disappointing playoff performance of Lamarcus Aldridge many rumors are that he may be on the trading block for the team.
End of an Era
With the end of an era in Spurs basketball, we will begin to see what they might pursue for the future of the team. Some rumored names that they may pursue are JJ Roddick and Paul George.
What ideas do you have for next seasons team? What will make the team stronger offensively, and defensively? How can we improve despite injuries?
